A Few Words About Me

The young conductor, P. Mauricio Sotelo-Romero, is the new chief conductor and artistic director of the Collegium Musicum Weimar since April 2023 and a scholarship holder of the German Music Council's Forum Dirigieren. He has also been studying orchestral conducting in the class of Prof. Nicolás Pasquet and Prof. Wycik (opera repertoire) at the HfM Franz Liszt in Weimar since October 2019 and has been a Bayreuth scholarship holder of the Richard-Wagner-Verband Weimar since November 2023. His latest projects include his debut with the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse with concerts in September, October and December 2023; his work as Assistant Conductor in the concert production of Parsifal with the Spanish National Orchestra (OCNE) under the direction of David Afkham or his participation as Musical Assistant for the new production of A. Berg's Wozzeck at the Chemnitz Theatre under the musical direction of GMD Guillermo García Calvo. He celebrated his opera debut with Mozart's Così fan tutte at the Landestheater Coburg in January 2022. Sotelo-Romero has worked with orchestras such as the Spanish National Orchestra (Orquesta Nacional de España), the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Robert Schumann Philharmonie Chemnitz and the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra.
